2010 in Review

This post is intended to be just an overview of what i actually finished and such... but i might also include a bit about what i was doing while i was knitting such projects. The truth is, i knit in so many different places that looking at it or the leftover yarn reminds me of what i was doing when i made said project. i guess that could be something else jonathan larson could add to his list of how people measure a year.

Here goes: (in a semblance of chronological order)
1) i started last year by giving a wedding blanket to a friend who had gotten married 6mos before. i couldn't make it bc i was trekking the united states by car... and knitting said blanket. It was mauve and used a lace/cable stitch combo. Fun.

2)I next finished a blue and raspberry blanket for my sister... after waiting 2 months for hobby lobby to restock the color i had run out of.

3) Next was a baby blanket for my now 11 month old niece! Nice and lacy. and blue. yes it was for a girl. i like blue and i'm a girl too. so what.

4) Then finished mittens for a dear friend. it took me a while bc i was modifying the pattern to her requests... and then it took extra long to get them to her. hopefully she got to use them this winter... bc she definitely didn't last winter.

5) I then started a long list of socks, starting with some terrificly bright stripey socks for a friend from school... the picture of such is still my computer background. C: Then i proceeded to make a pair for myself of the exact same yarn.

6) Socks for a friend here, another pair for myself (maybe not... they turned out too big for me...), and the beginnings of a set of holiday socks for my sister (i've only finished one pair out of at least 4)

7) Then my cousin decided to go to the Ukraine in February or something crazy like that... and of course i needed to make her a scarf and a head covering. both purple. both cozy.

8) And i made an identical headscarf for a friend in california. equally cozy (of course.) C:

9) Not that any knitters could relate to this, but then i started 2 scarves at the same time both green, both a cabled pattern of sorts, but one pattern was significantly easier than the other. one i finished in February. the other? May.

10) the next 2 blankets i made i already mentioned in another post.

11) I went to Croatia in July and DIDN'T take my knitting. biggest mistake all year. i missed it almost as bad as my best friend. almost. the whole time i dreamed about making lavender socks. yes really.

12) Around October i thought, "Hey Christmas is coming... i should start making things for people..." Then November happened and i audibly said "Oh crap. i need to start knitting 'til my fingers fall off!" So on this side of December, i still have my fingers (PTL!) but i also made/finished/sent 40 mini sock ornaments, 3 sets of stuffed miyazaki totoro sets, a pair of fall socks to my sister and a pillow for my 8yr old niece.

That's it. 68+ projects this year. sure 40 of them were basically the same, but that still leaves 28 or so. Good year. maybe more next year... i have quite the lineup already. C: who knows... maybe YOU'RE on it! (feel free to add your name. C:)
